DENTAL HELP PROJECT We need help to provide Ethiopian children the dental care they desperately need. Unfortunately, the rich Western diet we enjoy in Israel has taken its toll on the children. Back in Ethiopia, the food was mostly a subsistence diet, grown right where they lived, without processed food and added sugar. In Israel, the diet has changed to include a lot of "fast food", snacks, and sodas. This change has had a devastating effect on the children, whose families have no history of using dentists, nor the extra money to pay for dental services. To give one extreme example, FPF recently paid 11,500 NIS to repair one child's teeth at Schneider Children's Hospital. Currently, we have four children who need dental work approximating 18,000 NIS. We look forward to receiving your donations so that we can continue this urgent work, in tandem with our ongoing program for the mothers to teach methods of insuring good nutrition. FPF received a donation of NIS 6,672 from Bradley Cohen's Allforthekid's.org, FPF’s share of the proceeds from his Sponsored Walk. The donation came through the MY ISRAEL Fund headed by Danielle Franks, originally from the UK, who referred Bradley to FPF when he made inquiries of her about the walk. Since Bradley raises fund to help children, two youngsters who needed emergency dental treatment were chosen to be the beneficiaries of this lovely donation. The lucky boys are Yosef Yalou, aged 8, whose dental treatment came to NIS 3,855.00 and Yaakov Yassu, aged 13, whose dental treatment came to NIS 3,500.00 Both boys hadn’t been able to go to school because they were in pain and couldn’t eat. Although their parents are among the families FPF assists, they still didn’t have the funds to pay for regular dental care. Both boys now feel much better and have weekly appointments to get all the necessary work done.
